Your employer may require you to wear a posture support vest

People who have to wear them complain about them all the time. People who do not have to wear them usually end up complaining about something completely different. Your employer may require you to wear a posture support vest. If you must wear one, consider yourself lucky. The vest may be uncomfortable to wear at first, but you will get used to it eventually. You may complain about wearing the vest, but it is better to complain about it than to not wear it. If you choose not to wear it, you may find yourself complaining bout back pain, a back injury, or the need for back surgery.

A posture support vest requires the wearer to use proper posture when lifting. That’s why you see the vests being used in factories and warehouses where heavy lifting is done on a regular basis. They are also used in nursing homes, personal care homes, and hospitals where patients are lifted by employees. The vests are also seen in the retail industry quite a bit, especially by those who unload trucks or stock shelves. When you lift with your knees rather than your back, you decrease the chances of being injured. When you wear a vest, you limit your movements to only those that use proper posture. When wearing a vest in the proper manner, you are physically unable to move in ways that use poor posture. You cannot lift improperly. Therefore, you reduce the risk of becoming injured.

If your employer requires you to wear a posture support vest, you should wear it. Otherwise, you may find yourself complaining about something more than a back injury. If you do not wear the vest, and you are injured on the job, you may not be able to collect workman’s compensation benefits. You might not be paid for your time off work, and your doctors’ visits and hospital bills may not be covered. Imagine being hurt and off work indefinitely, possibly requiring surgery, not collecting a paycheck, and possibly needing to pay for your surgery out of your own pocket. You would be complaining about the pain and your financial situation. All of that can be avoided by wearing the vest that your employer requires you to wear.
